Sigourney Bell is a graduating senior from Briarwood High School in Birmingham, who is headed for Syracuse University in the fall.

The 18-year-old goes by the nickname, “Siggy,” and she said she has big plans to major in broadcast journalism.

Heading to college, Sigourney feels excited, yet nervous. “The idea of meeting new people and doing new things excites me alot.”

She said she tries to live by the quote: “Stay ethical and stay factual,” and she loves hearing and seeing “the real” in the world around her.

“Ethics guides us to make the world a better place through the choices we make,” Siggy said. “Ethics in business is just as important as ethics in personal life.”

In high school, Siggy took part in many extracurricular activities, including playing basketball and volleyball.

When not writing stories and reading some of her favorite books, Sigourney spends a good amount of her time working at the YMCA

Some big achievements that she has received she takes pride in are the President Scholar Award for excelling in academics and athletics and the Senior Student Athlete Award.
